What Place Is This?
Have you lost sight of your sacred path in favor of someone else’s?
I tend to be behind the times when it comes to getting out to see the latest movies. I hear plenty of buzz and have deep longings to see certain films on the big screen rather than having to watch them on our television, or, even smaller screen, my laptop. There are currently no fewer than seven movies that have released recently I’ve said I want to see.
Alas, there are many reasons why that doesn’t tend to happen (budget and difficulty finding childcare for date nights top the list much of the time). But as a lover of film and one who went to movies alone several times a week in Boston, I try to keep up with the movies on my radar, even if it’s a year or two later.
One such movie? The Greatest Showman.
It was hard on my writer soul not to see that one in the midst of its popularity. But circumstances didn’t allow for it at the time, and, of course there are plenty of stories to read and listen to from my local library.
But my husband and I finally sat down and watched the spectacle that is The Greatest Showman. It didn’t disappoint, but in the moment it was also not quite as dazzling as I’d expected because I’d heard so much about it. Of course, as with all good stories, the more I sit with it…
