The World Needs You to Rest
Curating a Creative Life — Sunday Sabbath
Each day, as I navigate my way through this incredibly broken world, it becomes clear just how much each of us needs to curate a creative life. Because I don’t know about you, but I find life outside the sanctuary of my four walls exhausting, and I don’t remember it feeling this way even just a few years ago. Maybe it’s because I was better able to disengage from the world then or maybe, just maybe it’s because this world has become more wearying. To me, the world is absolutely more wearying than it once was.
Because of this, it requires more of me, not less. And in order to be a source of hope in a world and to give of myself more willingly, I realize I need two things — rest and renewal. Each of these requires my coming into the presence of my Creator, the One who has called me to create and has invited me to live a creative life. It is through the creative life I pursue that I am able to step fully into my role of image bearer and reflect that character of God into the world.
