Are You Ready?
A distant dream beckons. Are you ready?
All the talk of a distant land has the hair on my neck prickling, not quite standing up, per se, but definitely prickling. What’s wrong with where we are? What’s wrong with right here, right now?
But the rumblings have been constant and the undercurrent is something we can no longer cut through without effort. I look around and the faces set with determination make clear to me it is the distant land and nothing less. Even so, I can’t help but wonder, am I willing to settle for something less? Am I okay with a smaller vision than everyone else?
The plan trickles down and the anticipation becomes palpable in the hot, humid air of the late evening. How can they be so excited about something about which they have no specifics? What do they see that I don’t? Or maybe it’s me that sees more clearly.
As the sun begins to sink and darkness settles down upon us and the stars settle into the distant night sky, everyone retreats into their homes, close their doors. Silence falls with the darkness and I want to scream, let’s just stay here a bit longer.
But I know it’s either embrace the journey or find myself here, alone, even lonely, while the dream moves into the distant land. The distant land. The place we’ve heard about, talked about, dreamed about, planned for, it was set before us and my heart trembled.
Am I ready for this?
That, friends, is 8 minutes and that is the stopping time (three minutes over the five minute writing on the word distant).
Thanks for showing up and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
